A unique set of six dining chairs, hand made, in France during the 1930's. The one off, designer chairs were commissioned to be oriental in style. The design has beautiful clean lines and subtle curves which are further enhanced by their original, black lacquer finish. Each chair features a unique, hand carved, idealised scene from the Orient which includes: birds, rustic beach dwellings, mountainous backdrops, tropical plants or trees. Each scene is inset as a feature into the back of each chair. These scenes are not black lacquered but left in the original blond wood which have been given a light chalk wash to further highlight them. The set has been newly upholstered, in house, in a neutral fabric which closely resembles the original.
