This bed isn’t just fit for a king—it was actually made for royalty! Handcrafted in solid oak in France circa 1880, this remarkable Neo-Classical bed was commissioned for the Egyptian royal family. It was also featured in an Egyptian film during the mid-20th century, adding to its storied past. As an outstanding example of the Neo-Classical period, this bed is an extraordinary statement piece. The imposing, panelled headboard and footboard are embellished with exquisitely carved laurel leaves and garlands of flowers, all accentuated with a gilt work finish to further highlight their intricate details. Classical fluted columns frame the panels, enhancing the bed’s majestic presence. At the centre of the headboard, a hand-painted cartouche in the “Boucher” style depicting cherubs, lends to the air of romance and artistry. In our 30 years of dealing with fine antique beds, we’ve never seen anything quite like this exceptional piece. A truly unique find.
